The Always Present Sun

By: Adina Ogle

Endless rain beats down on soggy earth as the sun struggles to break through the clouds.
Rushing feet keep a beat, each moving faster than the next
Umbrellas: blue, yellow, and red, go up in haste, every one different than the rest

Soggy clothes seeped and wet cling: tight and gross
A puddle traps unsuspecting souls with its deep abyss
One shoe, two shoe, splish splash!

A sigh is heard, the struggle ends, the clouds begin to break.
A sun peeks through with a howdy do, the grass begins to dry
Smiles emerge, a laugh is heard, maybe even a cry!

Flowers chant and sing a song to praise the God above
"Thank you Lord for your bountiful rain and the sun above,
For now all is well and life goes on it never rains for too long."
